Katrina Dimaranan talks about ‘The People’s Queen’ and her journey at the Miss Supranational 2018

  • Katrina Dimaranan shared her experiences when she joined the Miss Supranational 2018.
  • She also shared what The People’s Queen is all about.

Former Binibining Pilipinas-Tourism and Miss Supranational 2018 first runner-up Katrina Dimaranan recently became a part of The People’s Queen along with four other Filipino pageant hopefuls who are aiming for their own international titles.

In a media conference, she shared her experience when she was competing for the Miss Supranational title, representing the USA.

“This, honestly po, this is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life. Kasi not a lot of people are involved to experience what I went through and I’m really grateful.”

She said that she was really competitive at first, but as soon as she met all the other contestants, they became like one big family for two weeks straight.

“One thing that I can take from the pageant is friendship and the sisterhood that I made with all these girls. It was a hard journey for me kasi siyempre I’m away from my family.

“It was a little stressful because sometimes you get very little sleep but it was all worth it talaga and everyday, I would show up with a smile on my face kasi I was very grateful for the experience. And you know, it was a lot of fun.”

She added that she also bonded with the Philippine representative, Jehza Huelar, who finished at the top 10 of the contest.

“Yes, ang cute niya talaga. She’s very sweet.”

Dimaranan said that as she is loud and talkative, Huelar is quite the opposite as she is calm, which balanced everything out whenever they’re together.

On the topic of her new reality show with Katarina Rodriguez, Nikita Pia McElroy, Michelle Thurlund, and Jennifer Levy, she said that it was different from the usual training that they did for beauty pageants.

“I really really enjoyed the training that we had on the show. Even though it was a reality show, it was really about us getting to know ourselves and dream deeper. Kasi hindi siya trainings for beauty queens where it was parang focused on how we’ll perfect, we have to be like this, how to be like that. They never told us we have to be a certain way. It was more of them pulling out the truth of ourselves and how we can shine and how we can really stand out from a group.”

When asked about the difference of the program with all the other reality shows wherein people had to act a certain way, Dimaranan answered, “I think the show itself, being a reality show, already showed that we’re not perfect. Kasi you’re playing beauty queens who people think they’re perfect. So the show where they’re filming 24 hours a day, you can’t be pageant perfect 24 hours a day. So yan yung makikita ng audience yung struggle namin, yung mga conversations namin with the girls, yung mga pinag-uusapan namin. It’s just something that you don’t see out side of the beauty queen world.

“You will really see that we are far from perfect talaga. And you will see our trainers, especially Ceecee, they really accept that.”

She added that the show really promotes women empowerment and diversity. The beauty queen shared that although she cannot compete at the Binibining Pilipinas again, she does have plans to go back to the Philippines for a trip.

The People’s Queen aired on The Filipino Channel, Lifestyle, MYX TV and other video on demand platforms..
