It doesn’t matter if you’re a celebrity or not, as long as you’re in the social media sphere, it’s possible that you may encounter bashing.

Kapuso artist Gabbi Garcia asks about the benefits of online bashing. In a tweet dated July 29, she wrote “how i wish social media is toxic free. I mean what do u get from bashing people huhu, satisfaction? That’s a sad sad life u got there”

Her fans immediately cheered her up and replied with encouraging words such as “Ignore the negativity. All you can do is not let it change who you are. Continue to be a light and a source of inspiration to many of your young supporters.”

Another Netizen reminded her that she shouldn’t mind them because she has thousands of people supporting her.

Answering Garcia’s question, Licensed Professional Councelor Andrea Andrews of Psychology Today explained that hate says everything about the hater and nothing about the hated.

“Hate insists itself upon the world because and only because it refuses to become conscious.  Becoming conscious then is the braver act for it means that I can look at myself honestly and ask myself why I am so very afraid of difference that I have to hate it. 

“So, all you haters out there:  Wake up.  This is really all about YOU. “
