5 Things To Keep Away To Make Your Vagina Happy and Healthy

  • There are many trends that are not safe to put inside your vagina
  • Keep these things far from your vagina!
  • Health hazzards should be taken into consideration when following health tips you see in the internet

A lot of beauty trends have been popping up here and there, whether it’s about for healthier hair or clearer skin. Sometimes it’s for you to look better, but on other times, it’s for your prized possession down there.

Yes, we are talking about your vagina.

We listed down a few stuff that shouldn’t actually go near your vajayjay according to gynaecologists:

Vodka Tampons

The alcohol infused sanitary products was first introduced back in 1999 when teen Finnish girls hoped to get tipsy without their parents smelling the booze on their breath.

Soaking your tampons in vodka to get drunk faster isn’t exactly a new trend, but the increasing popularity of the idea is disturbing. Studies say that there are real dangers involved in this risky behavior.

Dr Toli Onon, spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) mentioned that Alcohol is an antiseptic and disturbing the balance of ‘good’ bacteria inside the vagina in this way can increase the risk of infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush. It can also be very irritant to the vaginal skin.

Detoxing Pearls

Have you ever heard of the trend called “vagina potpourri” wherein women began using tea-bag-like balls to detox their wombs?

Well, don’t do it because health experts say that you don’t really need to detoxify your vagina. Dr Vanessa Mackay, spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) said that the vagina is designed to clean itself with natural secretions and should not require a ‘detox’.

It contains good bacteria that protects it and if those bacterias are disturbed, it can lead to infection such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush, and inflammation.

Vaginal Tightening Wand

While some of you think that it’s ideal to have a “tighter vagina”, a product that promises to do so could automatically be very dangerous.

The wands contain ancient herbs such as high-quality Manjakani and pearl powder which has been used by women in Asia, Arabia and Persia for generations. It is used to dry out the vagina and tighten the opening.

Don’t get convinced by the claims of these products as sexually transmitted diseases can easily be passed when you have a dry vagina. Not to mention that the sex can be very painful for the woman in this condition.

So how will you tighten your vagina without risking your health? By practicing Kagel exercises!

Wasp Nests

If you’ve ever heard of the bizarre “oak galls” that are used for your “vaginal rejuvenation”, it’s best to ignore it.

Oak galls are balls made of bark and excretions of wasps and the product promised to, of course, tighten and clean the vagina. It is also said to be good for a woman’s health and wellbeing.

However, they are not good as they dry up the vagina. They can also disrupt the bacterial balance in the vagina and increase risk of yeast infections and HIV.

Douching Products

Douching is known as the practice of squirting fluids into your V to get rid of unwanted odors.

But it can have serious health implications as the vaginal douching products can increase the risk of contracting human papillomavirus (HPV), which can possibly lead to cancer.

Most health experts vote against the practice as the vagina is already self-cleaning and this may disturb the balance of bacteria which can lead to abnormal tissue growth and other changes to cells within your cervix.

A research from the University of Texas states that douching nearly doubles the possibility of a woman getting ovarian cancer.
