Different kinds of gap exist between the old generation and the millennials.

Usually, it is the reason why two people of different age can’t connect with each other due to the kind of environment they was used to as they were growing up. Sometimes, it is also the gap which makes it hard for a family to communicate and create a bond as there are some things which they can’t understand with each other.

One of the most common gaps that exist nowadays is the language barrier between two different age groups which was portrayed by Iggy Hugo Zuñiga through sharing a conversation between a grandmother and her grandchild.

MILLENIAL SI LOLA CHRONICLES

The conversation started when the grandmother asked her grandson what AF meant, even mistaking it for a certain brand.

The grandson explained how AF is used, but he didn’t tell her that it is an abbreviation that meant as f**k.

In the next scenario, the grandmother found out that her grandson was asking a girl to MOMOL with him. She thought it was the tagalized term used when asking another person to go to the mall.

What she didn’t know is that, it is an abbreviation that meant Make Out Make Out Lang.

Afterwards, Zuñiga was surprised to notice that his Lola already learned some words on her own!

She was actually getting the hang of it. Also, his grandmother even knows how to use wittybunny.

However, Zuñiga clarified that the conversation between the grandmother and her apo is a work of fiction based on true stories.

According to him, “This is a work of fiction, not only to entertain people but to raise awareness about the existence of language barriers between older generations and the millennials.”

However, those gap between the two can be overcome by teaching or explaining slangs properly to those who are in need of clarification. Even though it is a fictional conversation, from what I’ve read on the comments of the readers, it happens in reality,” he added.

Meanwhile, the netizens who had read the conversation found it amusing as the grandmother is too adorable for trying to learn some slang words currently used by many millennials.

Indeed, Zuñiga was able to show how the language barrier between two different age groups can be a hindrance for them to get along really well. Also, he had proven that the actions made by the millennials can be influential to them, and vice versa.

How about you? Have you had any similar conversation with someone who’s older than you?
