BEWARE: Here’s Why You Should Be Wary of Online Shopping

Many Filipinos got confident of online shopping given that it is hassle-free. A customer can easily scan an online shop’s catalogue and buy an item without leaving the four corners of their homes. There are also a lot of them who gives promotional offers such as free shipping, which encourages more and more Filipinos to make a purchase in just a few clicks.

However, there are a lot of downsides when it comes to online shopping, and one of them is scam. The usual scenarios are: (a) product didn’t get to the buyer, (b) seller sends a defective or expired product, and (c) the product is different from what the seller had in pictures.

To give you an example about this, here’s a post from the Facebook page of Sarcasm PH.

In the set of photos the page had posted, there was a screenshot of an Adidas shoes being offered for sale by a reseller at USD 750 or around 37,000 if converted to the local currency.

But when the shoes had finally arrived, it seems like the shoes is slightly different from the picture. The hole where the feet is supposedly inserted is small, and it is puffier compared to the actual photo.

Surprisingly though, it fits!

The netizens found it funny, but there are also some who reminded their friends and relatives to be extra careful when buying online.

On the other hand, this should be a lesson to everyone who is fond of shopping for different items online. Always make sure that the store has a lot of feedback from their past customers to ensure that they do fulfill their responsibility as a seller.
