Vice Ganda’s billboards in Cebu taken down for being ‘sexually suggestive’

Vice Ganda’s billboard for his concert Vice Gandang Ganda sa Sarili sa Cebu (E, di Wow) was removed by Cebu City local administrators after it was deemed “sexually suggestive.”

In the billboard, Vice Ganda wears a blonde wig and a sexy red gown and is surrounded by shirtless men.

According to Lucelle Mercado, chairman of the Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board (CCAIB), she has received complaints from concerned citizens including “private individuals and religious groups” prompting her to have it removed.

Speaking to Cebu Daily News, Mercado explained, “It’s sexually suggestive. The board hasn’t met yet about it but as chairman of CCAIB, I already took action. We don’t want to just wait since there are already a lot of people who’ve seen that.”

Meanwhile, the local concert organizer TSE Live, Inc. immediately complied and took down the billboard by 6 p.m. on Monday. TSE Live, Inc. revealed that the image was provided by ABS-CBN.

Moreover, TSE Live, Inc. said that they didn’t receive an official communication from CCAIB.

The same image was used in billboards in promoting Vice Ganda’s concert in Manila held last May 22 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. His show in Cebu City is scheduled on on Sunday, July 19, at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Concert promoters said they have yet to decide whether they will replace the billboard with a different image.

“It’s only a few days before the concert and putting up a new billboard is added cost on our side. Maybe we won’t be replacing it anymore,” they said in a statement.
