Calimlim was reported to have disappeared in the wee hours of June 30. His parents got up to check on him only to discover he was gone and had left all his belongings behind. Calimlim had been sick for the past month. Even though he already had x-rays and electrocardiogram tests done, he was still feverish. Despite all the medication and antibiotics, Calimlim still did not get better. According to Fortes, the last time they spoke, Calimlim said he observed one foot was bigger than the other.

On the night of June 29, Calimlim told his parents that he would like to sleep alone in a the bedroom he shared with his older brother. When his parents went to check on him around 2 to 3 a.m., he was no longer there. Fortes, being a tenant in the Calimlim household, along with the family, were confident at first that Calimlim would be home soon but at around 6 p.m., panic began to set in. They were unable to contact Calimlim as he had left his phone, medicines, and other personal belongings. He was last seen wearing house clothes, a green jacket, and slippers.

As his parents searched his things, they noticed a black bag which contained two letters for his two older brothers and his parents. He thanked them for their wishes for him. He wrote to his mother how he would be joining a friend “para maglakbay [to go on a journey]”. This baffled the family as they knew of no friends of Calimlim’s who would be going on a journey. Calimlim also did not bring any of his things with him nor was he in the right medical condition to go.

Fortes called out netizens for any information they might have on Calimlim. She posted the Calimlim family’s contact numbers should there be anyone who could give relevant and useful information.
