The Road to Forever: The Philippines has its own version of love locks

Filipinos don’t need to travel abroad to find love locks. The Philippines has its own version of Pont des Arts at Baclaran Church, Parañaque.

The love lock trend hit Paris in 2008. It involves lovers declaring their love by writing their initials or names on a padlock, fastening it to a bridge, fence, or gate, and then throwing its key into river below. The idea is to forever seal their love.

EJ Luzon said on his blog that padlock vendors can be found outside the church. The love lock fence is located near the second gate of the church, across a small wishing well where the keys are thrown away.

The love lock fence in Redemption Church doesn’t only serve as a place of symbolic act of love between a couple, but also a declaration of faith among devotees as some of them lock in their rosaries as well.

Why leave your love lock in another country if you can do it in Baclaran?
