Lyca Gairanod is the 1st “The Voice Kids Philippines” Grand Champion

The 9-year-old Lyca Gairanod who used to scavenge junk in her native Cavite was declared as the very first winner of “The Voice Kids” in the Philippines on July , Sunday at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.

The youngest finalist Lyca clinched clinched the grand title after getting the highest number of combined votes from the Saturday and Sunday performances of the grand finals. Darren Espanto, also from Team Sarah finished 1st-runner up, while Team Bamboo’s Juan Karlos Labajo and Team Lea’s Darlene Vibrares and finished as runner-ups of the competition. Lyca, one of Team Sarah’s two bets in the “Final Showdown,” performed the song ‘Basang Basa sa Ulan’ during the duet rounds of the competition on Sunday alongside a celebrity performer and the original singer of the song, Aegis.

According to Lyca, she loves Aegis and she got her wish to sing with one of the most iconic novelty rock groups in the Philippines. Lyka’s performance with the Aegis generated goosebump-inducing moments during her final performance. We can see from the video that she rocked the whole Newport Performing Arts Theater making the crowds go wild during her performance.

Tagged as the ‘Young Superstar,’ Lyca won a total of P1 million cash prize, a one-year recording contract from MCA Universal, House and Lot from Camella Homes, a Home Appliance Showcase, a musical instrument showcase, and P1 million worth of trust fund.
