MANILA- Gerphil Flores, who reached the third spot in Asia’s Got Talent after shadow play group El Gamma Penumbra and ethnic musical group Khusugtun told the reporters that all four Filipino finalists are proud that they ‘have gotten this far’, according to ABS-CBN.
Among the nine grand finalists, the Philippines was the only country represented by four acts. Aside from Penumbra and Flores, other finalists were young singer Gwyneth Dorado and hip-hop dance group Junior New System.
Other contestants were from China, Mongolia, Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.
After the announcement that Flores did not make the top two, award-winning musician David Foster came up on stage and spoke with her.
Flores did not mention what Foster told her but cited it was ‘enough’ to lighten her ‘disappointment’ of not winning the title, “definitely,some big words of encouragement.”
She is looking forward to finishing her music course at the University of the Philippines and is staying optimistic that Foster will make good on his promise to bring her to a global audience.
When asking if she sees herself doing some collaboration with the producer, she said, “Ini-imagine ko po pero hindi ko pa siya nakikita fully! Sana talagang mangyari po talaga… Hopefully tuparin po ni Sir David Foster ‘yung pangako niya sa akin!
“Basta lagi kong niri-remind ang sarili ko na laging kasama ang Panginoon, laging feet on the ground, always humble, kahit ano pong mangyari,” she added.
MANILA- Asia’s Got Talent judge David Foster gave his golden girl, Gerphil Flores, some words of encouragement after she finished third in the finals of Asia’s Got Talent.
Upon hearing the announcement of top two, the crying Filipino classical singer, who place third behind Mongolia’s Khusugtun, was surrounded by members of El Gamma Penumbra who comforted her.
When asked for his message for Gerphil, Foster replied, “May I say it in private?”
The multiple Grammy winner left his seat in the judges’ area and went up on stage to talk to Gerphil, whom he had promised to bring global recognition.
Although their exchange couldn’t be heard, host Rovilson Fernandez hinted to the audience that Foster told his ward, “We’re going to hear more from you in the future.”
As if to affirm his promise to Gerphil that she’s meant for stardom, the judge added: “She was my golden buzzer. She is still my golden buzzer.”
Speaking with reporters after the finale show, the former Pilipinas Got Talent contestant did not reveal what Foster told her, but said they were ‘big words of encouragement’.
During the grand finals performance night last Thursday, May 7, Gerphil’s rendition of “Impossible Dream” enthralled the audience and the judges especially Foster, who had said, “the world is going to know about you.”
The “Asia’s Got Talent” Grand Final results night opened with the four judges and a large-scale number from all the grand finalists starting from The Talento, Junior New System, Gwyneth Dorado, El Gamma Penumbra, Gao Lin and Liu Xin, Khusugtun, Gerphil Flores, Dance Thrilogy, Triqstar, who brought their A-game to the show.

The shadow play group El Gamma Penumbra emerged as the winner of the first Asia’s Got Talent on Thursday (May 14).
Soprano singer from the Philippines Gerphil Flores once again made the judges’ jaws drop during the final performance night of “Asia’s Got Talent” live at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore on May 7. Gerphil Flores wowed the four judges with her flawless performance of the classic song ‘The Impossible Dream’ popularized by Frank Sinatra.
The 24-year old classical singer earned raves from the judges especially David Foster, “I promise you, I promise you…the world is going to know about you one day.” Gerphil made made David press the Golden Buzzer the first time during the auditions.

The winner of the pan-regional talent search will be announced on May 14. Voting is now open and viewers can vote for their favorite acts anytime before 11:59 Monday.
Another group of Filipino talents has proven that they are of international caliber by getting the last golden buzzer for the finals of Asia’s Got Talent (AGT) during the April 30, 2015 episode. According to GMA News, El Gamma Penumbra, a Filipino dance group, impressed the judges of AGT with their shadow dance.
The golden buzzer was first introduced in Britain’s Got Talent in 2014 to accelerate an act in the contest to the next round. This last golden buzzer was a unanimous decision for the four judges and was given to the Philippines’ El Gamma Penumbra. (El Gamma Penumbra also got the golden buzzer in the semi-finals by singer-judge Anggun.)

El Gamma Penumbra is the fourth Filipino talent to join the finals of AGT. El Gamma Penumbra will be joining child wonder Gwyneth Dorado, Opera singer Gerphil Flores and “Junior New System”, another dance group, for AGT’s finals fro 2015.
