Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson responded to a netizen who called him “bading” in a social media comment, reiterating his previous statements about his sexual orientation.
The exchange happened after Lacson posted on X about the arrest of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in connection with a flood-control plunder case.
A netizen responded to the senator’s post by calling him “bading,” prompting Lacson to fire back.
“You don’t know me, and I don’t know you. I’ll say it again – kung ako bading, wala ka nang makitang macho sa mundo,” Lacson replied.
The senator has previously responded publicly to comments and insinuations about his sexual orientation.
Earlier this year, Lacson addressed a remark involving Senator Imee Marcos after she joked that she would lose if the two of them pulled each other’s hair.
Lacson interpreted the comment as an insinuation about his sexuality. Marcos later denied that this was her intention, saying Lacson had “a very shallow definition of what a ‘real man’ is.”
At the time, Lacson said he had nothing against members of the LGBTQ community.
“It is their choice, and I respect them for that,” he said, while adding that he “still prefers to be a real man.”
Questions about Lacson’s sexuality have surfaced publicly before. In 2013, the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago referred to him as “Pinky” Lacson and threatened to make claims about his sexuality public.
Lacson denied being gay at the time, saying, “If she’s insinuating some lunatic idea about my sexuality, let me emphasize this—I am not gay and I don’t intend to be one.”
