Another netizen escapes being allegedly drugged by GrabTaxi driver

The DailyPedia reported in early May about an incident involving GrabTaxi, a popular taxi-booking mobile application, and how one of its users narrowly escaped being drugged (read post here). Just recently, another netizen encountered a GrabTaxi driver who allegedly tried to do the same thing.   This was reported on Facebook from the first-hand experience of netizen Madeline G. Pasigan.

Pasigan shared a screen cap of her booking with the driver Danilo Densing’s photo and his taxi plate number UVJ 741.

Pasigan shared how she was disillusioned thinking she would be safe booking a cab from the popular app, and yet had already experienced the modus two times. She writes,

“The first time i experienced this is ung driver kunwari pinupanasan nya ung headrest nya. Ngayon kunwari nililinis at pinupunasan nya yung radio at aircon. Ang bilis ng epekto. And since i am very aware bumaba agad ako. Muntik pa ko makaaksidente ng motor sa pagmamadali ko bumaba. my face is numb when i got off the taxi and wala ako nagawa kundi umiyak and thank God niligtas mo na nman ako s mga pwedeng mangyari. [The first time I experienced this, the driver was pretending to wipe his headrest. Now, the driver pretended to clean and wipe the radio and air-conditioner. The effect was fast. And since I am aware of this modus operandi, I hurriedly went down from the cab. I almost got hit by a motorcycle in my haste to get out (of the cab). My face felt numb when I stepped out and all I could do was cry and thank God I was spared.]”

Reports of cab drivers drugging passengers have been circulating on social media, thus the boom of taxi-booking apps which supposedly give security to passengers. But apparently, security is still a long way off even with these apps if drivers allegedly still manage to victimize their passengers.

On GrabTaxi’s Facebeook page, the company posted, “We are aware of the many dangers commuters are exposed to everyday. This is why GrabTaxi makes sure that every passenger arrives safe at their destination. Make GrabTaxi your taxi of choice for a safe and sure ride.” But how can GrabTaxi be the choice when incidences like this occur every now and then?
