Rising Kapuso star Kelvin Miranda is a superstar-in-the-making

Playing a swoon-worthy chef or a charming ladies’ man seems like an easy job to do for Kelvin Miranda, who has just begun making his mark in showbiz. The 22-year-old Kapuso star is yet to work with more leading ladies, but one can see this early that he is a universal leading man-in-the-making.

The up-and-coming Kapuso artist tracks a path that seems paved for future superstars.

It’s a character that made movie and TV superstars like John Lloyd Cruz and Coco Martin among the prime leading men of the entertainment industry. And while it’s too early yet to say Miranda will follow in their footsteps, signs that say the Kapuso actor is off to successes in the future are all over the place.

Miranda’s humble beginning traces back to his uncredited acting debut via the Star Cinema film–Vince, Kath, and James. His real take-off took place in 2016 when he became a Kapuso contract star. But even then, opportunities were still scarce. His unvacated career is [mostly] made possible by the small and supporting roles he breathed into on television and in movies.

In 2019, his first lead role in a film came in via the Cinemalaya entry, Dead Kids. It was later made available on Netflix.

As a Kapuso talent, he portrayed bit parts in several daytime dramas first; before bagging his first lead role in a Kapuso series.

The Lost Recipe, a handsomely-shot time-travel-themed romantic series, starred Miranda alongside his onscreen partner Mikee Quintos. The warm reception to their partnership likely indicates that the two are ready to become their home network’s new powerhouse love team. It gave Miranda bigger opportunities, which he simply can’t ignore.

With Loving Bridgette, Miranda’s overwhelming potential got even more exposed. Starring alongside the new Kapuso actress, Beauty Gonzales, the promising actor has seemingly found a new level of fame, which can only soar further if the new partnership gets continued being pursued by GMA Network. That being said, you have to return to the notion that Miranda is a universal leading man in the making, so giving him a new partner should only provide more potent avenues for him to thrive.

And he will thrive. That’s judging the pace of his career, at least. A lot in the industry and the fans have been noting Miranda’s similarity, in looks and demeanor, to some of today’s top male stars. They say he has the looks of both Daniel Padilla and James Reid, and he possesses a charm that can very well remind people of the former. While these qualities can be taken more as a compliment, it can pose harm as well, should Miranda aspire to make his mark in showbusiness.  Will he stand out? That’s a question that can be both answered by his home network, itself, which should know by now, which right projects must be given to an utterly promising star-like Kelvin.

It’s quite daunting to think that one bright star could be abruptly dimmed by wrong projects or the arrival of newer stars. But during these moments when Miranda has moved miles in his career when many of his contemporaries have drifted away from the limelight, it is easier to believe the young actor will become a star to beat, sooner than later.
