Roderick Paulate clarifies he was not imprisoned

Roderick is slated to star in the film ‘In His Mother’s Eyes,’ originally intended for the MMFF 2023, alongside Maricel Soriano.

Showbiz columnist Ogie Diaz discussed a conversation he had with Roderick Paulate, a TV host, actor, and former Quezon City councilor.

During an episode of ‘Showbiz Updates’ on November 6, Ogie mentioned that many people had been asking Roderick why he appeared in the film ‘In His Mother’s Eye’ when they believed he was serving a prison sentence.

It’s important to note that in January, the court upheld the verdict of imprisonment against Roderick, based on allegations of his involvement with “ghost” employees.

However, Roderick clarified that he had not been incarcerated.

He explained, “Okay, totoo ‘yun. ‘Yung lumabas sa news. Pero hindi naman sinasabi ng news kung ano ‘yung mga legal procedure na mangyayari.”

Roderick continued, “Bakit ganoon? Noong negatibo, ang laki-laki ng balita. Pinagpiyestahan ako. Pero bakit noong in-acquit ako at dinismiss ang kaso ng Court of Appeals, bakit hindi n’yo rin pinagpiyestahan at hindi kayo nag-hallelujah?”

Currently, despite the dismissal of Roderick’s case, he revealed that the other party is still contesting the decision.

Roderick is slated to star in the film ‘In His Mother’s Eyes,’ originally intended for the MMFF 2023, alongside Maricel Soriano. However, it did not make it to the festival. Reports suggest that it is targeting a release date just before Christmas for a theatrical screening.
