Vice Ganda reveals why he ended ‘GGV’

Another key factor, according to Vice Ganda, was his desire to escape the repetitiveness of having the same guests appear on his show.

Vice Ganda recently shed light on the reason behind his decision to conclude the long-running show ‘Gandang Gabi Vice’ (GGV).

In response to queries about why ABS-CBN has not brought back ‘GGV,’ a show that aired for nearly a decade, Vice Ganda candidly shared that he was approached by the network’s management when he renewed his contract.

They inquired if he wished to revive the popular talk show. However, Vice Ganda cited his inability to manage three different shows simultaneously as a limiting factor.

“I was actually asked by the management when i signed my new contract if i wanted to do GGV again. I couldnt do 3 shows anymore,” Vice Ganda explained.

While he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of resurrecting ‘GGV,’ he expressed his intention to make it a seasonal endeavor. He noted that the prospect of committing to another ten-year run was daunting.

Another key factor, according to Vice Ganda, was his desire to escape the repetitiveness of having the same guests appear on his show. Nonetheless, he expressed optimism that, in the absence of network rivalries, there might be a broader pool of diverse and engaging guests available for ‘GGV.’

“Actually true to. Nagsawa na din ako sa paulit ulit na guests. Isa yun sa mga rason kaya i decided to sign off,” Vice Ganda said. “Pero ngayon mukhang mas malalim na ang balon ng guests kasi sanib pwersa na ang mga networks (hopefully).”

Vice Ganda, whose real name is Jose Marie Viceral, is celebrated for his comedic prowess, and he has made a significant impact in the Philippine entertainment industry as a comedian, actor, and television host.
