Elizabeth Oropesa opens up about being a Marcos loyalist; reveals why she has some resentment

She revealed that she had been a loyalist of the Marcoses long before the 2022 elections, but she also harbored some grievances.

Veteran actress Elizabeth Oropesa expressed her thoughts after openly supporting President Bongbong Marcos Jr.

In an interview on Morly Alinio’s YouTube channel, she was asked if she attempted to secure a government position following her support for the Marcos family.

Elizabeth admitted that she never aspired to government positions.

She revealed that she had been a loyalist of the Marcoses long before the 2022 elections, but harbored some grievances.

“Even before, ilang taon na ba akong nakipaglaban? 37 years na akong nakipaglaban, ‘pag sinabi kong loyal ako sa’yo, loyal ako sa’yo,” she said.

“‘Yung ginagawa ko kasi ‘yun hindi naman ako nag-eexpect ng kahit ano. Of coures you’re hoping na mapansin ka. Kasi after all matanda na ako. I’ve been fighting for so long. Edi you’re hoping na mapansin ka.”

According to her, they helped President Bongbong Marcos assume office, but she felt she went unnoticed by him.

“Wala nga akong litrato niya na may pirma. Maniwala ka… ang pumapansin sa akin palagi, na palaging tumutulong na nand’yan kahit anong mangyari… si Imee,” she shared.

She was also asked if she felt resentful because, despite her accomplishments and conflicts with others, the president did not notice her.

Oropesa expressed, “Masakit kasi siyempre… Isipin mo umaboy ako sa edad na ito tapos kahit litrato niya, hindi n’ya mapirmahan, bigyan ako. Yun lang naman hinihingi ko. Masakit pero nagko-compensate naman si Imee Marcos.”

She added, “Well hindi ako nanghihinayang na nakipaglaban ako. Naisip ko lang, hindi panghihinayang e… hinanakit. Hinanakit siguro… dahil hindi nabigyan ng pagpapahalaga kahit kaunti.”

Despite everything that happened, Elizabeth did not aspire to be offered a position in the administration following her interview.

“Too late. I’m fine. Hindi naman ako nagugutom. Kinakapos paminsan-minsan sa dami ng tinutulungan. Siguro ang sasabihin ko tulungan na lang natin itong mga ito,” she said.

Elizabeth seems to be aware that the siblings are struggling with some issues.

“Ayaw ko silang nagkakagulo siyempre. As much as possible sana ma-settle kung whatever it is na meron silang problema ngayon. Kasi ang nadadamay, ang mga Pilipino. Ang buong Pilipinas! Kahit ‘yung walang kinalaman nadadamay!” she furthered.
