Aiai Delas Alas says Princess Diana should’ve been Queen

Delas Alas remembered Princess Diana. She showed her respect by posting a photo of the former Princess of Wales on Instagram the following day after the coronation.

Comedienne Ai-Ai Delas Alas was among the people who remembered Princess Diana during King Charles III’s official coronation in London on May 6.

Although King Charles took the throne after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died on September 8, 2022, he was not formally crowned until last weekend.

The coronation is a traditional way for the monarch to receive the crown, the major symbol of royal authority.

Additionally, Charles’s second wife, Queen Camilla, was also crowned a royal consort.

The service at Westminster Abbey, which lasted several hours, was attended by British royals, other global royals, world leaders, celebrities, and some community servants.

While Charles’s first wife, Princess Diana, was a popular and much-admired figure for her sincerity and humanitarian efforts. Some people remembered her during Charles and Camilla’s coronation ceremony.

“Naalala ko sya❤️sa sad ako kasi dapat sya ang Queen Diana .. dbale na hayaan na wala ako magagawa and wala din naman silang pakialam sa opinyon ko pero tingin ko hindi lang ako ang nakakaramdam nito ngayun 😕 #myqueen,” Delas Alas said on Instagram.

Delas Alas’s Instagram post has received more than 12,000 likes and many people have echoed her thoughts in the comments section.

Fellow celebrities also concurred with Delas Alas’ post.

“[Yes] nay, [siya] talaga Queen. Diana ang naglakas-loob na mag salita sa pait na sinapit [niya], ‘di lahat nakikita natin,” dancer-entrepreneur Sugar Mercado commented.

Tradition dictates that when a male sovereign comes to the throne, his wife is also anointed and crowned as a royal consort. However, this is in a less elaborate ceremony. Camilla, the wife of King Charles III, was also crowned as a royal consort.

However, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, Prince Philip, was not crowned as he did not hold the King title.

The reason is that the title of King is an inherited title, and Queen Elizabeth was the offspring of a sovereign, with her father being King George VI.

The King title is typically not bestowed on husbands in the monarchy, since it outranks the Queen title. When they are married to female monarchs, they are entitled to the title of Prince.
