Netizens accuse Vanessa Hudgens of riding the Filipino descent bandwagon. Allegedly, the actress never claimed her Filipino side during her career peak.

Hudgens arrived in the Philippines on March 24 to shoot a travel documentary. However, not everyone was excited about her arrival.

Netizens point out that Hudgens never mentioned being proud of her Filipino descent.

Hudgens was appointed “Global Tourism Ambassador for the Philippines”.

The Palace has stated that Vanessa’s appointment aligns with the administration’s goal of enhancing Philippine tourism and elevating the country’s international reputation.

Netizens think the title should’ve been given to someone else who was proud of their Filipino background.

Hudgens however, mentioned she was proud of her Filipino identity.

“I think my parents saw [at] an early age that I had this gift, and they wanted to support me and allow me to flourish and grow and obviously, it helped where it has taken me,” she said in a March 31 interview.

Gina Guangco, Hudgens’ mother, claims she never used physical discipline to correct her children’s behavior. Instead, she taught them to be compassionate, a virtue prevalent in Filipino culture.

She also made sure that her daughters, including the Fil-Am actress, learned to embrace their Filipino heritage and remain authentic, positively influencing others. Hudgens’ exploration of her ancestral roots in the Philippines enabled her to connect with her cultural identity. She also recognized the significance of staying true to oneself and familial legacy.

When Vanessa Hudgens was questioned about her mother’s tales regarding the Philippines, she disclosed that they frequently revolved around the strong connections that exist within families.

“You know very much about the closeness of your family, how, when someone gets married, they move into a family home. You don’t leave the house, you know, everybody sticks together,” she explained.

Hudgens expressed a desire to see her mother’s immigrant story adapted into a film last year. Meanwhile, Hudgens paid a visit to Palawan, as evidenced by an Instagram post.
