Social media personality Mama Lulu makes netizens laugh with her response to concerns about her diet

She gave a brief answer, saying that her eating habits were an issue 40 years ago and now she’s already 65.

Social media star Mama Lulu made netizens laugh with her response to their calls about her needing to watch what she eats.

In one video, her son Oliver Balgos sought her reaction to their fans saying that she should manage her diet because they’re worried about her health.

“Ma, ano masasabi mo sa mga taong nagko-comment na hinay-hinay daw ‘yung pagkain; napakataba mo at baka mamatay ka na?” Balgos asked.

In her brief response, she said that her eating habits have been an issue for the past 40 years.

“Matagal nang isyu ‘yan, 20 years old pa ako, 65 [years-old] na ako ngayon,” she said before closing her eyes.

Her son then asked why she looked tired.

She responded, saying that she just ate some “chicharon.”

Netizens found the short clip as entertaining as their other videos.

Balgos, who resides in California with his mother and sister, started sharing content on TikTok in 2019. He currently has over 16 million followers on TikTok and 1.4 million followers on Instagram.

His videos became famous during the pandemic lockdowns when he began posting clips of his mother playing a guessing game called ‘Name That Celebrity’. The duo’s natural rapport and Mama Lulu’s unfiltered reactions quickly won them a large following online. The vlogger shared, “Sometimes when I’m just bored, I bother my mom with random things I come up with or pranks that I see online. Other times, we do TikTok trends. But one thing is for sure, is that whatever comes out of my mom’s mouth, I have no idea what she’s going to say.”

He said that people love his mom’s “natural” antics; no filter is needed.

Furthermore, they have utilized their popularity for a worthwhile cause, tackling and raising funds for various issues such as Black Lives Matter; Stop Asian Hate; and pandemic relief. Mama Lulu, a homemaker, relocated to California from Makati City, Philippines, 20 years ago with her late husband.
