Netizens found it amusing when actress Alex Gonzaga recently said that she’d be staying away from “cakes.”
At the 20th anniversary concert of Toni Gonzaga at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on January 20, the sisters took the time to discuss Alex’s 35th birthday celebration where she smeared cake frosting on a waiter’s face after she blew the candles.
This video was shared on Instagram by Dani Barretto but was deleted immediately after netizens called Gonzaga insensitive and disrespectful.
The conversation flows:
“Talaga? Nag-concert ka pala?” Toni Gonzaga told her sister after she had performed.
“Talaga. Pinagusapan ‘yan for almost three days,” Alex Gonzaga responded.
“Kaya pala trending ka for three days” to which the crowd roared with laughter,” Toni Gonzaga said as the crowd laughed.
The younger Gonzaga then said that she had already changed as a person.
“Nagbago na ako hindi na ako ganun.”
The older Gonzaga sibling then mentioned cakes, to which the comedian responded, “Yan po ang pinag-iiwasan ko ngayon ang mga cake. Magbigay ka na sa akin ng panis na pagkain okay? Baka kasi basagin ko yung panis na pagkain.” She added she’d rather have ice cream than cake when it’s her birthday again.
The crowd liked the banter but most netizens expressed disapproval.

The concert reportedly sold out and was successful. After weeks of uncertainty, Toni Gonzaga’s 20th anniversary and birthday concert, “I am Toni,” was a resounding success. The large audience and impressive production last night disproved any negative rumors surrounding the concert and proved that the event was a success.
