Vice Ganda, Ivana Alawi, celebs react to high-grossing films at MMFF screenings

An unofficial report says that “Partners in Crime,” “Deleter,” “Labyu With an Accent,” and “Family Matters” are leading the roster in ticket sales.

Aside from Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022 handlers, celebrities such as Vice Ganda, Nadine Lustre, Ivana Alawi, and others also praised this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

MMDA acting chairman Atty. Romando Artes told ABS-CBN that moviegoers really made this year’s film fest special.

The MMFF refused to release a box office ranking of the entries that are available to watch in more than 650 cinemas nationwide. However, an unofficial report says that “Partners in Crime,” “Deleter,” “Labyu With an Accent,” and “Family Matters” are leading the roster in ticket sales.

These films were followed by “My Teacher,” “My Father Myself,” and “Mamasapano.”

Vice Ganda expressed “thanks” in a tweet.

Vice Ganda was also overwhelmed by the number of people who waited in line just to see his film.

Ivana Alawi, Vice Ganda’s co-star, was overwhelmed by the reception as well.

On the other hand, filmmaker Mikhail Red was proud to see Deleter bring home the “Best Editing” award.

Deleter also won the most awards.

Family Matters was highly underrated, said netizens.

Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo also noted the overwhelming public response to the MMFF 2022, especially the reports that some theaters closed due to full audience capacity. The veteran actress said, “Sabi nga nila, parang natakaw uhaw ang mga manonood ngayong kapaskuhan sa MMFF.”

Rodrigo also insisted that there will be no “first day, last day” showing of the MMFF entries that have a weak box office standing in Metro Manila theaters, based on the agreement with industry stakeholders.

The entire roster of films is expected to hit P1 billion. But hopefully, according to Artes and Rodrigo, MMFF 2022 will reach its gross projection of P500 million.

The MMFF Gabi ng Parangal awards for the best film, performances and technical excellence will be held Tuesday night at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
