Arnold Clavio hits corrupt government employees over controversial Maharlika Wealth Fund

Clavio then talked about the government being filled with selfish public servants who only care about their own self-interests

Veteran broadcaster Arnold Clavio has taken shots at shady government employees.

In an Instagram post uploaded on December 12, Clavio wrote a lengthy message addressing the issue surrounding the proposed wealth fund.

With that message, he shared a video depicting what the government could possibly do once the wealth fund proposal is approved.

The video shows two children, a girl, and a boy, seated at the dinner table with a plate full of chocolate bars in front of them. The boy is labeled “mamamayan,” the girl “gobyerno,” and the plate “maharlika funds.” The girl then proceeds to eat every single chocolate bar causing the boy to cry. This prompts the girl to give the boy two little pieces which eventually calmed him down.

Clavio then talked about the government being filled with selfish public servants who only care about their own self-interest.

Clavio said that politicians who always promise to help the underprivileged have almost always no plans. He stated that the poor continually fall for these types of politicians but never learn their lesson because they’re not knowledgeable enough.

The broadcaster furthered, “Ang tanong, kumusta naman ang buhay nila? Nag-aalala ba bukas ? May pangamba ba sa susunod na linggo? Umaasa ba sa wala? Madaling ipangako ang langit. Pero madaling papaniwalain na ito ay maaabot at bahala na kung imposible talaga.”

Meanwhile, President Bongbong Marcos has expressed his support for the Maharlika Wealth Fund (MWF), stating that the contentious idea will be to the country’s advantage because it will result in the addition of investments.  The president stated, “For sure, I wouldn’t have brought it up otherwise. It’s very clear that we need added investment. This is another way to get that.”

Financial Secretary Benjamin Diokno, Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) of the Philippines Amenah Pangandaman, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Felipe Medalla all strongly support the MWF.

They pointed to the fact that Marcos’ “Build Better More” initiative has resulted in more money being allocated to and invested in large-scale infrastructure projects, as well as more people working on green and blue initiatives with high returns, and the improvement of rural areas.
