The owner was grateful that her money has been found since it’s almost time to pay for her children’s tuition fees.

An unexpected thief was caught stealing bills from an eatery owner in Bacolod City.

In a viral Facebook post, Sheryle Tayhopon shared her shock and amusement when she found the spot where the rat was keeping the stolen bills from her. The rat has taken a total of Php4,210.

She said that she was having a hard time coming up with a decision on whether to close or continue on her small business which was founded by her mother. The eatery has been struggling since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tayhopon decided to visit her deceased father’s grave, got emotional, and asked for a sign or help.

“Umiiyak na ako humihingi ako ng sign, tinatanong ko siya kung dapat ko pa bang ipagpapatuloy kasi nakakapagod na rin,” the business owner told ABS-CBN News.

When she went home, she counted the money in her bag and got confused as to why it seemed like she lost some money. It’s not the first time it has happened as she often leaves the bag open in a small room in the eatery.

She has begun looking for the money in the room until she found a rat enter a small hole in the wall. When she took a peek in the hole using her flashlight, she found money stacked inside.

Tayhopon decided to ask someone to tear down a small part of the wall and there they discovered several bills hidden. This includes two Php1,000 bills, two Php500 bills, nine Php100 bills, five Php50 bills, and three Php20 bills.

The owner was grateful that her money has been found since it’s almost time to pay for her children’s tuition fees.

“Ipinambayad ko na ‘yung pera, iipunin ko naman talaga yung pera para sa tuition ng mga anak ko pero yun nga nag iipon din pala ang daga hindi ko lang alam kung may pinagpapaaral din siya.”

On the other hand, she has decided to temporarily close her eatery for its renovation and general cleaning.
