Bulacan SK council donates online learning kits to senior high school and college students

She noted SKs should make the youth feel like they care about them.

Senior high school and college students in Pulilan, Bulacan found themselves lucky after a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) council provided them with online class materials.

Online learning is now part of the normal no matter how much resistance it received, especially from those who live in far-flung areas as these people usually have an unstable internet connection and a lack of the requirements for long-distance education.

But fortunately for 200 high school and college students in Pulilan, most of their online class problems have been solved. The SK council donated table tops, flash drives, earphones, notebooks, ballpoint pens, highlighters, and correction tapes.

SK chair Rochelle Ann Valdez revealed that funds originally allocated for sports activities were realigned to purchase the materials for online learning.

Other groups have done something similar in the past which inspired Valdez and her team to do the same.

“To be honest, hindi po kami ang pioneer ng ganitong programa. Nakita lang namin siya sa social media and madaming kabataan sa amin na nagse-share ng mga posts na ‘Sana all, may SK’, ‘Sana all ganito din sa’ min’. At dininig namin lahat ng iyon, at pinatunayan namin sa kanila na may SK sila,” she shared.

They had the students register online before delivering to them the learning kits.

She noted SKs should make the youth feel like they care about them.

“At this most challenging time, gusto naming iparamdam sa mga kabataan na mayroon silang mga ate at kuya na all out support sa kanila, na together, we will rise as one,” she said.

In addition to the learning kits, the SK started a free printing drive and donated papers and envelopes to various schools as well.
