SAGIP Partylist Representative Rodante Marcoleta and Cavite 7th District Representative Jesus Crispin Remulla are trying to raise doubts about the Lopez family’s possession of ABS-CBN Headquarters and the former Joint US Military Advisory Group (JUSMAG) Compound.
On July 10, the House committee on legislative franchises with a vote of 70-11, put an end to the ABS-CBN franchise, the country’s biggest media company, that will eventually cause the loss of jobs of 11,000 Filipinos.
However, Congress does not seem content with the blow they’ve already dealt to the company. Marcoleta and Remulla are trying to raise doubts about the Lopezes’ legal rights to the ABS-CBN property and JUSMAG compound.
Marcoleta, one of the ABS-CBN’s biggest adversaries, claimed that the land title of ABS-CBN is fake thus, they can be cast out from their ‘home’.
“Yung titulo nila (Lopezes) hindi naman totoo, pwede natin sila i-eject doon,” he said.
[Their title is fake, we can eject them there]
The SAGIP Partylist Representative also said that ABS-CBN officials did not respond when they were asked to provide enough documents to prove their ownership.
“Kahit isang salita, natameme sa titulo. Banat na lng ng banat, hanap ng butas, pero titulo nila ayaw magsalaita kahit isang letra,” the solon said.
Marcoleta also said that the title presented by ABS-CBN in one of the House hearings is a title of a 42-square meters lot which could not justify their 44-square meters lot where stands their buildings and transmitters.
“May nakanota na for reconstitution. Ibig mong sabihin, since December 26, 1967, ‘di pa na-reconstitute titulo? Conclusion lang dito, pinagawa lang sa Claro M. Recto ito,” Marcoleta added.
[It is noted for reconstitution. Meaning since December 26, 1967, this title has not been reconstituted yet? Only the conclusion is here, this was just falsified at Claro M. Recto]
His statements have drawn flak from netizens.
Marcoleta is after the land title of ABS-CBN's headquarters in QC. Kadiri.

Pwede kasi nila palabasin na fake yung land title ng ABS-CBN. Ipupush nila yan. Pag nangyari yon, the government can easily sequester all of the network’s assets, equipments etc. Kaya kating-kati si Marcoleta dun sa land title issue eh. Grabe sya!

Sucks to be an unprivileged filipino during this covid times with this kind of government officials.
Imagine youre just trying to survive living thru slaving under an oligarch. And when they clash against another oligarch govt official, youre the most affected one. https://t.co/5r1GDk0CVE— .jyv⁷ (@ChayfeeRosel) July 19, 2020

This is what happens when people are given with so much power. They abuse it as much as they can, to the point that they can do whatever they can just to achieve their main goal, regardless of the people who'll be affected of it. Nakakasukaa kayo kasi feeling- https://t.co/VJZXNmDwCd

Moreover, Remulla also said that the government must take control of the JUSMAG compound where the ABS-CBN foundation is located.
“Bakit nila hawak ang JUSMAG compound? Anong basis noon? Dapat sa gobyerno yan,” Cavite 7th district solon said.
[Why do they take hold of JUSMAG Compound? What is their basis? It should be under the government]
