Wife creates makeshift theater at home for a romantic date night while in quarantine

Allie Shapiro, a 26-year-old freelance artist and illustrator, planned the movie date night at home for her wife, complete with tickets, a marquee, and a pricey snack bar.

A woman from Chicago set up a makeshift movie theater inside their home to treat her wife to a romantic night out while on house quarantine last week.

Allie Shapiro, a 26-year-old freelance artist and illustrator, planned the movie date night at home for her wife, complete with tickets, a marquee, and a pricey snack bar.

She made signage with schedules of all the film options for the evening and hung it outside of a window.

Among the movie options were “Downhill,” “Birds of Prey,” “The Gentleman,” “The Big Lebowski,” “Honey Boy,” “The Lion King,” and “Endings, Beginnings.”

Allie’s wife, 28-year-old comedian Allison Reese, was presented with an improvised movie ticket.

“My wife ‘took’ me on a date to the movies. It was stupid cute and VERY expensive. 💜,” Allison tweeted.

Allison said she was surprised to see the concession stand stocked with snacks and beers.

She said Allie bought her “Stella Artois” beer for $100 using play money.

“It was so sweet. She took out a wad of Monopoly money to pay for everything. And I was like ‘I got it,'” she wrote.

In the end, Allison said they settled on watching “The Gentleman.

Allison has uploaded some photos of the makeshift movie theater on Twitter.
