‘Para kay Yul!’ Doctor joins online photo voting contest to help kid patient with psoriasis

“Si Yul at ako laban sa psoriasis.”

A Philippine General Hospital (PGH) physician appealed to netizens to vote in an online photo contest to help a child patient with psoriasis.

In his Twitter account, dermatologist Winlove Mojica said he recently joined a photo contest organized by the PGH in the hopes of winning the P50,000 cash prize, which he plans to give to the family of his child patient named Yul.

Mojica said that with the money, Yul’s family can put up a sari-sari store, which can earn income that can be used for the boy’s medications.

P50K ang premyo,” the doctor wrote.

According to Mojica, Yul has been his patient since 2017.

He said the child is from Sibuyan Island in Romblon province and traveled to PGH in Manila with his parents to find treatment for psoriasis – a skin disease marked by red, itchy, scaly patches.

To help them win the photo contest, Mojica urged the public to visit his Facebook page “Skin Sensei” and look for a photo of him sitting with Yul and then one should “like” or “heart” it.

“Tulungan niyo naman kaming manalo. Please like this photo (sabi ng organizer i-post namin ang entry namin sa sariling FB or IG). Meron akong 13k followers dito sa FB… baka naman pwedeng makakuha ng 13k na puso,” Mojica captioned to his photo entry, which he shared on his Facebook page.

“Para kay Yul! Si Yul at ako laban sa psoriasis,” he added.

As of this writing, the said post has already garnered over 148,000 reactions and it was shared 15,000 times.

More than 2,800 people have also commented on it, mostly sending praise and good luck messages.
