Netizen shares the most heartbreaking realization in a time of need

“Poor people are often most generous because they know what is like to have nothing.”

A simple act of kindness got netizens emotional.

Melcah Orpilla shared a story on Facebook about how a man with virtually nothing helped her get home.

Melcah had nothing in her pockets as she was standing outside a 7-eleven store hoping to be given a free ride by one of the jeepneys passing by.

She got rejected every time she asked to get a free ride. They would just wave her off and tell her to go to other jeepneys that would take her in.

What she did not know was that a guy sleeping in a cart was very much aware of her situation. The guy saw that she was standing there for hours already and asked her where she lives.

He then gave her 15 pesos for her to get home. He would have given his entire money, which was 50 pesos, but he needed the 35 to buy some bread.

Melcah admired the man’s generosity and felt ashamed, very ashamed which then led to the title of her post: “Poor people are often most generous because they know what is like to have nothing. A kind of experience you cannot encounter everyday. Feeling blessed and sad at the same time.”
