In an interview with Pilipino Star Ngayon, Congressman Yul Servo disclosed that he and long-time friend Piolo Pascual once joked and dreamed for the veteran and award-winning actor to become a mayor.
“Actually, nung ‘di pa ako konsehal, minsan nangangarap (kami) na joke-joke lang na tatakbo siyang mayor pero hindi naman niya tinuloy kasi ayaw din niyang pasukin,” said Servo when inquired if he ever did encourage his friend to enter the world of politics.
The member of the Philippine House of Representatives from Manila’s 3rd District is also now indifferent to others giving malicious comments towards his friendship with Pascual. Asked if he ever felt bad when the two of them are being linked together, he answered “Ako naman kabisado ko naman siya kung paano niya dalhin dahil matagal ko siyang nakasama eh. Alam ko kung paano niya i-handle ang kanyang buhay.”
What is important for him is that they remained friends and akin to family, especially as Pascual is godfather to four of his five children.
Even Pascual’s last birthday was spent giving charity to our countrymen and Servo’s own constituents were among those included to receive from the actor.
“1500 na goods, saka 1500 na ham… may mga de lata, bigas, pa-birthday niya sa mga ka-distrito ko,” said the actor-turned-politician. “Kaya tuwang-tuwa ‘yung mga ‘yun. Siya mismo ang nag-aano (namamahagi),” Servo added.
The two of them lead busy lives and Servo admitted that they do not keep in touch like they used to before, but was thankful for his friend’s kind gesture.
“Hindi na kami masyadong nakakapag-usap eh. Ano niya na yun, kindness na niya na makapag-share siya ng blessings. Alam naman natin yung kaibigan natin, magaling ang pag-handle niya ng buhay niya, yung mga kita niya. Kaya nakakatuwa. Hindi lang naman sa Manila, sa buong Pilipinas.”
