PNP denies the existence of ‘tanim-droga’ at checkpoints

  • Rumors spread that the police are practicing the ‘tanim-bala’ scheme.
  • Philippine National Police denies the allegations.

The Philippine National Police denied the rumors saying that there’s a ‘tanim-droga’ scheme in their checkpoints.

It’s a said scheme wherein the police officers will allegedly plant illegal drugs on motorists passing by checkpoints only to extort money from then in exchange for their freedom.

Viral social media posts have accused policemen of opening a trunk of a motorcycle and planting a sachet of shabu inside before allowing the driver to pass by.

The driver suddenly grew suspicious and stopped somewhere to check his trunk, and there he discovered a sachet of shabu inserted inside.

Policement that will allegedly “discover” the drugs are waiting at another stop.

According to Chief Superintendent Benigno Durana, the said viral post is considered as “fake news”.

Durana added that the only thing that they do in these checkpoints is the visual inspection and there will be no chance of the policemen to plant anything inside the vehicle.
