NOT APPROVED! Jeffree Star, Michelle Dy engage in a social media drama

  • Jeffree Star calls out Michelle Dy for allegedly copying his “Jeffree Star Approved” series.
  • A Netizen claps back to Star saying that his series is not trademarked and the YouTuber was not the first one to do the series.
  • Michelle Dy apologizes to Star.

We all know that a lot if Netizens are always in it for some drama, for some “tea” to sip.

One of the most talked about issues on Twitter is the alleged beef between Jeffree Star and Michelle Dy. It all started when Jeffree posted a video on his Instagram stories, calling out a certain “vlogger who is not known in America” for stealing his “approved series” wherein he reviews make up products. He then revealed that it is copyrighted in the US.

The well known vlogger said “Girl, that’s been my thing for two years now. It’s trademarked. It’s on merch (merchandise), don’t try me.

“Sometimes I feel like people do that stuff on purpose. Like let me use Jeffree’s thing and cause a stir about it and I’ll get a lot more viewers and subscribers. I’m like, I’m not even going to mention your name,”

The YouTuber chose not to name the person he’s calling out, however, Netizens have suspected that it is the Pinay vlogger, Michelle Dy.

Dy has recently started her own series titled “MD Approved New Series”. The issue rapidly spread around Twitter as netizens feasted on it.

One Twitter user, however, refused to believe Star and decided to check the website of the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s website if ‘Approved’ is really trademarked by the internet star.

The Michelle Dy incident is a plain reminder to all that we have no right to copy someone else’s work unless permitted. It should also remind us to do research before we comment. So where is the “Jeffree Star Approved” Patent and Trademark? Dont @ me

She attached a photo of her search results which showed four terms that are trademarked under Jeffree Star’s name, however, Approved is not one of them.

She also called out those who accused Dy of copying James Charles’ Style Swap even thought the latter was not the one who first came up with the video idea.

Okay so why do ya’ll have to talk about Michelle Dy COPYING James Charles doing STYLE SWAP when JC did not even really tarted STYLE SWAP Youtube is such a huuuuge platform and all you stupid h*es are only subscribed to these people? FR?

She then tweeted a screenshot of YouTubers doing ‘Approved’ videos as early as four years ago.

Jeffree Star is one of the few YouTube gurus I watch and look up to in the YouTube community. Recently, I uploaded 2 new
videos in my youtube channel which was the “MD Approved New Series” inspired by Jeffree, while it was clearly stated in the
description box in the 2 videos that these new series in my channel were Pinay version and inspired by international YouTubers, I
was unaware that this “Jeffree Star Approved” series is copyrighted in America

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to Jeffree Star if in any way or another, I may have violated your rights from the use of your trademark. Videos from my channel has been deleted already and rest-assured that it will not happen again. Again, I am sorry

I am sharing this to all of you to serve as a lesson for all of us. I believe that a mistake cannot be corrected with another mistake And as the adage goes, “When you make a mistake, there are only three things to do about it, admit it, learn from it and don’t repeat it.”-MD

The two “MD Approved New Series” videos are now deleted from Michelle Dy’s channel.
