Nectar Nightclub reacts on Offensive Message against the LGBTQ+ Community

  • Nightclub and Gay Bar in BGC expressed disappointment toward a stranger’s message asking about the bar if it’s safe.
  • The stranger stated that he/she has heard that gays who frequent the club are diagnosed with HIV.
  • Nectar Nightclub urged everyone to respect their club and the LGBTQ+ community.

Nectar Nightclub posted on July 10  about a customer asking them if the establishment is “safe” as he or she heard that “a lot of gays coming [to the club] have HIV.”

In the statement released on their official facebook page, saying that the message offended them and “their ignorance about HIV was appalling”.

“The audacious and casual tempo of their shrieking insult to celebrate a party of marriage in one of our clubs when we ourselves don’t have the right to marry the person we love (here in The Philippines) was downright straight-privilege nonsense.” they wrote.

They informed that the nightclub will be celebrating their second anniversary in November but they’ve only had one serious fight in the club so far.

“A Nectar gogo boy was attacked by the boyfriend of a straight female bachelorette party attendee who was voluntarily getting a lap-dance. Our employee was punched in the head a total of 15 times, rushed to the hospital and suffered a severe (grade 3) concussion.

“We were gay-bashed inside our own home!”

The nightclub further stated that the message of the Facebook user “speaks to the layers of straight privilege that exist within many of you.”

They then stated that they refuse to show the same amount of discrimination and hate as people have shown them and instead, they will welcome everyone in the establishment as long as the people will behave themselves.

“You are guests after all.”
