Asia O’Hara sashays away after her failed butterfly stunt at RuPaul’s Drag Race 10 finale

  • RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Asia O’Hara suffers from butterfly stunt fail
  • Asia O’Hara apologizes and states that she would never purposely hurt and living creatures

A failed on-stage stunt of RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Asia O’Hara was the talk of the town when she experiences a disastrous performance when she attempted to release quite a number of butterflies but not a single one of them flew.

During her lip sync stage against fellow contestant Kameron Michaels, she was supposed to make the butterflies fly from different parts of her body but the creatures never took flight as they were too weak and crawled across the stage instead. Reports say that many butterflies have died and Asia stepped on some of the insects.

During an interview with Billboard, she was asked if she’s somewhat afraid to get backlash from animal right groups, Asia O’Hara answered that she would never purposely hurt any living being, let alone butterflies.

“It is important that everyone knows many months went into researching, planning, and rehearsing what was intended to be a safe, amazing display of optimism and a surprise for everyone, including the network and production. But life itself is unpredictable. I would never purposely hurt any living being, let alone a butterfly, and have the utmost respect for all animals. I would like to publicly offer the entire world my deepest apology.”

O’Hara also said that she suspects that the butterflies’ failure to take flight was a result of their climate controlled shipping conditions.

“They need to warm up to a certain temperature in order to fly away,

I, of course, rehearsed it at home several times and it worked, but [the finale was] a different place and a different environment, and I don’t think the contraptions were warm enough to wake the butterflies up. But, as they warmed up in the stage lights during the break, they started to fly away!”

Asia O’Hara has then posted a public apology on her Twitter account saying that she was sad and unhappy about the happening but in order to make it right, she and her friends will donate 100 volunteer hours to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
