Oops.. that sounded wrong.
It became automatic for our netizens to feast on something weird or exciting, and for this case, both. Hilariously, Laguna local government had something great in mind but was executed the other way around.
This photo of their recent slogan saying, “Gift Giving CUM Feeding” went viral online as netizens noticed the obvious.
You probably know what ‘cum’ is, right?
According to GMA News Online, Governor Ramil Hernandez cuts short the laugh saying that the ‘cum’ meant ‘comes with’. It was also referred by Ms. Arlet Estrosa, the head of the Gender and Development Program in Laguna, as “‘Together with’ ang ibig sabihin namin duon sa ‘cum’.”
She even said that they have used the word even before. They put up banners with ‘cum’ on their programs, but it was a first for netizens to notice it.
“Wala talagang malisya, kasi ‘together with’ naman talaga ang ibig ng salita. Talagang nagulat na lang kami – hindi pa ako nakakapag-check ng Facebook, may tumawag na lang sa akin,” she revealed.
The other meaning
When asked if someone from the team actually knew what the other connotation of the word was, she replied, “Hindi po talaga. Wala po talaga sa amin ang may alam.”
On future references, she vowed to never use the word again. All laughs, netizens but it was an honest human/humorous mistake.
