Pride month has commenced, but we’re still on a hangover. Through the years, the LBTQ+ Community has come a long, long way–from breaking through the norms to legalizing same-sex marriage.

Now, the Federation is getting bigger and bigger as more allies standing up for equal rights. By allies, we mean straight people who support LGBT+.

LOVE is LOVE

Chris Herrera, a radio jock from Texas, made it to the headlines after posting a precious moment he encountered during the Texas Pride March. In his post is a set of pictures and a video showing a heterosexual family joining the gay parade.

After taking photos and videos of the family, Herrera takes courage on asking a question, “So if you don’t mind me asking… clearly you are a straight couple, right? What brought you out today in full festive mode?”

The father’s answer gave chills to everyone who heard it and to anyone who is reading this.

“As a father, I make it a point to teach my child since she was born–love is love! I want her to love everyone, every race, every soul! So I want every celebration of life to be normal to her from day one! As long as she knows there is love in this world, when I’m gone I know she will be okay,” he answered.

Take a look at this video, isn’t it admirable?

Aww…

We can only hope that all families think this way. But deep in our hearts, we know that it can never be. There will always be haters and doubters along the way, but what’s important is your belief. Stand up for what you believe in, and never be afraid to choose the person you’d love for the rest of your life–regardless of race and gender.

We shall not settle with the world that tolerates, let’s fight until they accept us; treat us with equal rights.
