Generally, people who have reached an old age are encouraged to retire from work for the reason that their abilities and strength had decreased due to aging.
However, there are some cases where old people are still working in spite of their situation.
One of those cases is this man cleaning other people’s trash in Gate 7 of Agora Market in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur. He is incapacitated and too old, but still manages to sweep the side of the street.
The old man’s story was shared to Matalinong Matsing’s Facebook page by Mamdouh Gallentes Balatucal.
The woman said that if people don’t have the means to help the man financially, she encouraged the Facebook netizens not to let him clean their trash.
The people of the internet felt bad for the poor man. According to them, ensuring the cleanliness of the surroundings should be the local government’s responsibility. Also, they added that people should be disciplined to learn to recycle their waste instead of carelessly throwing them everywhere.
People who grew old should be resting inside their homes and enjoying life if possible.
They have already lived up their years where they should work, and they definitely deserve to be free from those kinds of responsibilities which should be shouldered by those who can still do heavy work.
