Unknown to many, the Philippines has two magnificent beaches with pink sand that could rival that of the Bermudas. The remarkable pink color is caused by tiny red organisms growing under the coral reefs. When these red organisms die on the ocean floor, they get washed up and mixed with bits of coral, shells, and other debris in the seabed. This gives the sand its characteristic pink hue.

1. Great Santa Cruz Island in Zamboanga City
Known for its pink coralline sand, Great Santa Cruz Island is a small inhabited island located in Zamboanga City in the southern part of the Philippines. Described by tourists as a virgin island with pink sand like no other, the island is also home to waterbirds and flying foxes and has a lot of mangroves. Pulverized red organ pipe coral from years of erosion mixed with white sand gave this beach its unique color.
