Passenger reveals pickpockets’ modus operandi inside LRT

Crooks can be found almost everywhere in the Philippines. While some plant bullets in the luggage of travelers at the airport, others try to take advantage of innocent passengers trying to take a cab. They can also be found roaming malls and public places waiting for a chance to deceive people. Recently, these racketeers have been staking out one of the most used forms of public transportation in the country.

Netizen Aya Genorga witnessed how two men allegedly attempted to execute a new modus operandi inside the Light Rail Transit (LRT) II. In a lengthy Facebook post, Genorga detailed how the two rogues repeatedly attempted to victimize passengers on several occasions.

According to Genorga, she first encountered the pickpockets two months ago when they tried to steal her phone which was placed inside her pocket. Although the two failed to accomplish their mission, Genorga saw them again the next day wearing the same clothes at the same station. Apparently, they operate by using a bag to cover up their movements. During that particular incident, the pickpockets once again failed to rob a passenger.

But on Wednesday, February 10, Genorga once again encountered the pickpockets. The two allegedly tried to steal from two San Sebastian high school students when the train arrived. Aware of their modus, Genorga stepped up and grabbed the bag of one of the students to warn them.

Ate!” Genorga said to catch the attention of the unsuspecting students.

Inside the train, Genorga informed the students about the pickpockets’ modus operandi.

Genorga is planning to inform the management of LRT Legarda station about the incidents.
