Enrile: Same-sex union supporters should go to Mars

MANILA, Philippines. Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile has expressed his support for Pinoy boxing icon Manny Pacquiao amidst the anti-LGBT controversy he is facing.

According to the 92-year-old lawmaker, he sees nothing wrong with the Sarangani representative’s stand on same-sex marriage in the Philippines.

Tama si Pacquiao. Kung ipipilit ng mga LGBT groups ang same-sex marriage, mainam pa na pumunta sila sa planetang Mars,” Enrile said.

(Pacquiao is right. If LGBT groups will push same-sex marriage, it’s better if they just go to Mars.)

Citing that even the birds know the difference between males and females, Enrile said that he would not make a statement as strong as Pacquiao yet stressed that same-sex marriage is unnatural.

Enrile, who also supports the presidential candidacy of United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) standard bearer and Vice President Jejomar Binay, believes that the eight-time world boxing champion should not be worried about the threat of the LGBT community that they will not vote for him in the May 2016 elections following his derogatory remark against gay people. The veteran politician added that Pacquiao was “showing a better leadership than most people.”

Furthermore, Enrile dismissed suggestions that his comment may cause an uproar in the LGBT community.

He said, “E anong pakialam ko sa kanila kung babanatan ako? Sasabihin ko sa kanila, sira nga ulo ninyo. Anong ginagawa ninyo? Hindi naman kayo Diyos.

( Why should I care if they criticize me? I will tell them that they are crazy. What are you doing? You are not God.)
