Woman claims to have found a dead mouse in her coffee; Starbucks responds

A woman named Jessa claims to have found a dead mouse in her favorite Starbucks coffee. ABS-CBN’s primetime newscast TV Patrol made a report about the incident which happened on January 26.

According to Jessa, it was about 9 pm when they ordered the coffee at Starbucks Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City. She did not finished her coffee at the store and decided to bring it home until she noticed that there was something hard inside her drink. When she took the lid off, she saw a dead mouse in the cup. “Pagka-stir ko, ‘dun ko nakitayung daga. Then when I saw that, ‘Oh my gosh,’ as in hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko pero buti na lang hindi ko siya nabitawan bigla. Nanginginig na ako nun that time. Nagsusuka na ako.”

Jessa showed the cup to her friends and went back to the coffee shop to complain but the store manager insisted that it did not come from them. She then went to Mandaluyong PNP to file an incident report.

Meanwhile, Starbucks Philippines issued a statement saying the safety of their customers was of “utmost importance” to them, adding “We are taking our customer’s concerns seriously and are actively investigating her claim.”

“At Starbucks, we want every customer who visits our stores to have a positive experience. The safety of our customers is of the utmost importance, and we take our obligation to provide safe products seriously.

We are taking our customer’s concerns seriously and are actively investigating her claim.”
