Mother accuses doctor of medical malpractice, seeks justice for daughter in coma

Netizen Marina Mozo is seeking justice for her daughter Sheryl Mozo Pascua who is currently in a comatose state. Mozo has accused an Obstetrician Gynecologist doctor from Mary Chiles General Hospital of medical malpractice.

In her Facebook post, Mozo revealed that despite her daughter’s wish to deliver the baby via caesarean section on her due date, the ob-gyne doctor asked Pascua to wait for two more weeks.

Pascua gave birth via normal spontaneous delivery on June 13, 2015. Although she gave birth to a healthy baby boy weighing 4.1 kg and measuring 54 cm, there’s a noticeable mark on the baby’s head due to the use of forceps.

A certain Dr. Servas, the hospital’s head ob-gyne, admitted that they made a mistake in cutting Pascua’s birth canal, causing the patient to have hematoma. Because of this, Pascua had to undergo another surgery.

Pascua, who was suffering from edema and was having difficulty breathing, was discharged from the hospital on June 17. Based on an X-ray examination done on June 15, they discovered that Pascua had water in her lungs and had an enlarged heart. The doctor informed them that such complications can be treated by taking medicines.

But on June 20 during her check-up with the ob-gyne in the same hospital, Pascua suffered from cardiac arrest. Her heart stopped beating for 10 to 15 minutes and was only revived. The doctors believe that this was caused by the condition of Pascua’s lungs.
