After experiencing one calamity after another, citizens truly believe they have been blessed to have been given the bounty of the sea. From the video, people could be heard thanking God for their catch.

According to netizens, the catch was made on the shores of Triana Limasawa, Southern Leyte. Limasawa takes pride in having the first ever Catholic mass in the Philippines held there in 1521. The small island’s citizens are known to be very religious and faithful people. Proof of this was shown when the region was devastated by Typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) in 2013, but had zero fatalities. In an interview, Governor Roger Mercado was quoted saying first, “Salamat sa Diyos zero casualties po ang Southern Leyte. [We thank God Southern Leyte has zero casualties.]”

Netizens not just from the region were indeed very thankful for their catch of the day. The fishing village has been slowly rising from devastation and this downpour of blessings will surely aid in getting Leyteños back on their feet.
