Lady driver suffers verbal abuse in traffic-related incident

A lady motorist took to Facebook to air her grievances after suffering verbal abuse from a rude driver on the morning of August 14, Friday, beneath the Libis flyover at C5 Road.

The lady driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, recounts that while stuck in traffic, the red Tamaraw behind her suddenly revved up and hit her left side mirror three times. She honked her horn, so the other vehicle stopped and moved beside her vehicle. She pulled down her window hoping to get an apology, thinking that since traffic was hellishly horrible that morning, perhaps the other driver was only stressed.

But to her surprise, instead of an apology, she got shouted at. “Ano? Anong gusto mo? Umuna ka na!” (What? What do you want? Go on ahead!) The irate Tamaraw driver screamed.

To which she said, “Tinamaan mo side mirror ko tatlong beses, ikaw pa ang galit.” (You hit my side mirror three times, yet you’re the one who’s angry?)

As traffic moved, she was able to take a picture of the vehicle’s license plate. But when the traffic stopped again, the Tamaraw driver who perhaps noticed her taking pictures, attempted to step down and perhaps confront her. He apparently changed his mind or perhaps was discouraged by his passengers, because he closed his door again. Aside from the abusive driver, whom the victim estimates to be within the 40 to 50-year-old range, there were five other people in the Tamaraw: a woman sitting beside the driver, and four men sitting behind.

As traffic moved, the Tamaraw changed to the leftmost lane going to Eastwood and the lady driver moved ahead. “I wouldn’t bother taking a pic and posting this,” she explained, “if you had said ‘sorry,’ they’re teaching this now to my grade 1 kid, I’m sure kahit papaano, napag-aralan mo din yun.” (I’m sure you were taught to say sorry, too.)
