Student fatally stabs ‘bully’ classmate

A first year student at Cabalum Western College was stabbed dead by his classmate inside their classroom on Thursday, August 20 at around 8 a.m.

According to reports, suspect Allison Hecita, 21, attacked Jay Mark Barlan, 19, claiming he was tired of the latter’s constant bullying.

Witnesses revealed that Hecita stabbed Barlan in the lower chest while the latter was entering their classroom before their classes began. After the incident, the suspect surrendered to the school security guard. Hecita was turned over to Police Precinct 1 in Iloilo City.

Barlan was declared dead on arrival at St. Paul University Hospital.

Both Barlan and Hecita are Hotel and Restaurant Management students in Cabalum Western College.
