UPDATED: Netizen says Power Saver device caused fire; Ace Hardware investigates

A netizen warned people to be extra cautious about using Power Saver (a device to save on electricity). K. V. Ramos posted on his Facebook timeline photos of a burnt Power Saver they allegedly bought at SM’s Ace Hardware.

His post said:

“Warning to those who are using Power Saver from SM’s Ace Hardware. We almost lost our house and lives with this Power Saver. Buti nalang narinig at nagising si nanay Mila Curimao Gabriel. at ginising kami kaya napatay ang apoy.

(Good thing mom Mila Curimao Gabriel heard it happening and woke up and woke us up to put out the fire.)”

In the comments section, Ramos mentioned that they have been using the device for five years. And he advised friends who are also using the same Power Saver to switch it off before sleeping or when leaving the house as a safety precaution. Some of the commenters told Ramos to report the incident to Ace Hardware, but the fact that they have been using it for five years kept him from doing so. He opted to share their experience with the public and tell people to be extra careful.

(Our neighbor’s house was burnt down because of the power saver, too.)
