Motorist warns public about a modus operandi on Katipunan, QC

Quezon City is one of the most progressive cities in the Philippines. However, it is also one of the most dangerous cities to live in. Just turn on the television and you will see how Quezon City is always in the news because of several crimes. In addition, according to Numbeo, Quezon City has a crime rate of 71.85 per cent which has been increasing for the past three years. One motorist can attest to this since  he experienced yet another modus operandi on Katipunan, Quezon City.

Motie S. posted a status last June 17, 2015 on Facebook warning the public about this new modus. As he was waiting at the intersection to turn on to Katipunan from B. Gonzales Street, a tricycle going the opposite way stopped near his car and the driver reached for his hand through the window while the driver’s companion tried to forcefully open his door. Fortunately, his door was locked and the traffic light turned green so he was able to leave them behind.

But the unfortunate incident did not end there. When Motie stopped to report the incident to a stationed MMDA officer nearby, the guy who tried to open his car door passed by and made a high five and thumbs up sign. What’s worse was that he was actually wearing a Barangay Traffic Aide shirt which made Motie think that he and the MMDA traffic officer were in cahoots. That’s when Motie realized it was useless to report the incident.

Afterwards, Motie tried to report the incident at the Anonas Police Station. However, the police on duty said that Katipunan is not under their jurisdiction and then just resumed navigating his Facebook account. It was another waste of time on Motie’s part.

No wonder Quezon City has a high crime index rate. We certainly hope this would not happen to Motie or any other motorists. As for the public, just be extra vigilant.
