Chile – Photos of a man stripped naked, wrapped in cling film and tied to a lamppost has been making rounds online.
According to reports, the 32-year-old local named Valentino Abeyta Barrera attempted to rob an elderly man at knifepoint in the Chilean capital. Unfortunately for him, the act was spotted by bystanders. He was disarmed, his clothes ripped off, his underpants pulled down, and then his body was covered in cling film fastened to a post.
After twenty minutes, police officials arrived at the scene. They asked him what happened but he refused to answer. The only words he uttered were for them to release him.
He was then assisted to the police station wherein he was asked to file a complaint to his attackers. Since no complaint was recorded by Barrera and the alleged victim, they were forced to let him go.

“Unless the man who was tied to the lamppost or his alleged victim wants to file a complaint, there is not much we can do,” said the police spokesman.
This scenario has sparked different opinions from various netizens. While others said they’d do the same thing, some explained that the crowd can just arrest the guy instead of beating him. “This kind of things put us at the same level as the criminals,” adding that it showed lack of faith in the police and the justice system.
