Aj Ramos May File Charges Against Those Who Spread His Intimate Video

AJ RAMOSMANILA, Philippines – Early this week, AJ Ramos became the talk of netizens after his sex video surfaced and went viral online.

On Monday, October 6, Ramos became a trending topic on Twitter after the video of his intimate acts with a certain Abby Santiaguel was leaked online. Allegedly, the two are students from Ateneo de Manila University.

The 17-minute video, uploaded to a public video hosting website, was originally tagged as #DLSUscandal but later on changed to #Ateneoscandal. The link was finally shared to other websites such as Facebook, Vid.Me, and other adult sites. There is also a part 2 to the said video scandal.

Reportedly, Ramos and Santiaguel are popular campus figures. Ramos was often referred to as “Crush ng Bayan” while Santiaguel was called by many as “Miss Flawless”.

As of writing, the person who originally uploaded the video is still unidentified.

Aj Ramos: ‘Stop Spreading the Link’

On Tuesday, October 7, user @eejhay_ramos posted on Twitter:

“Stop spreading “Aj Ramos” leaked video. Sa lahat ng mga nagshare, pwede po kayong makasuhan namin. Thank you.”

It is not yet confirmed whether the Twitter account is authentic.

Video Scandals in the Philippines

Video scandals are nothing new to Filipinos. As early as 2005, comedienne Ethel Booba and former partner Alex Crisano became highly talked about after their alleged intimate video spread via cellphone. Reportedly, the video clip leaked after Crisano had his cellphone repaired in Greenhills. The former couple neither confirmed nor denied the issue.

But it was Dr. Hayden Kho, model and former boyfriend of doctor to the stars Dra. Vicky Belo, who had the most publicized video scandals in the country. In 2009, a series of Kho’s intimate videos with different partners including Kapuso actress Katrina Halili, former girlfriend and Kapamilya actress Maricar Reyes, and a Brazilian model, made rounds online. The videos were recorded without the women’s consent.

Halili sued Kho for allegedly violating Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.

In November 2009, the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) revoked Kho’s medical license in connection with the video scandal. Five years later, Kho was reinstated by the PRC as a medical doctor again.

After Kho’s controversy, intimate videos of celebrities such as Kapatid network host Paolo Bediones, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda and girlfriend Neri Naig, as well as Eat Bulaga host Wally Bayola also made rounds online.

What the Law Says?

With the alarming proliferation of intimate photos and videos being posted and shared without the person’s consent, there’s a law that actually protects Filipinos from that.

Aj Ramos can definitely sue netizens who are spreading the links of his personal video by virtue of Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.

Attyatwork.com simplified the provisions of the law.

1.Taking photo or video coverage of sexual act, or capturing an image of a person’s private area (genitals, pubic area, buttocks or female breast).

2. Copying or reproduction of the photo or video of sexual act.

3. Selling or distribution of the photo or video of sexual act.

4. Publishing, broadcasting, showing or exhibiting the photo or video of sexual act.
