LOOK: What’s inside PNP Chief Alan Purisima’s ‘ordinary house’?

MANILA, Philippines- After opening up his Nueva Ecija house to the media to clarify issues surrounding it, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Alan Purisima is still receiving negative criticisms.

Purisima was involved in a controversy after the discovery of  his 4.7- hectare property in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija’s valued at P3,750,000 in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) in 2013.

“As reporters could see, this property is no mansion by any standard. It is an ordinary house, as ordinary as the other concrete houses that you would see in the neighborhood. By inviting the media, it is my hope that some questions related to my property would be put to rest, ” Purisima said.

“Not an ordinary house”

However, many members of the media allowed inside the PNP chief’s house don’t agree with his description.

One reporter commented: “It may be an ordinary house by General Purisima’s standard. But to us, it’s a dream house.”

Even Senator Sergio Osmena III does not believe Purisima’s claims.

During his ANC interview with Karen Davila he said: “That’s a well-designed house. You can see the design so clean, and the interiors are of very high quality. The swimming pool alone I estimate would cost at least P500,000.”

He added that the gazebo, which Purisima claimed costs between P17,000 to P18,000 to construct, looked similar to the designs of resorts in Panglao and Boracay.

“No way! One pole there would cost P17,000. One pole. Those are solid, probably apitong or molave.”

What’s inside the ‘ordinary house’?

It was Tito Purisima, cousin of the PNP chief, who briefed the media prior to the tour.

“Tingnan po naten kung ito ay matatawag na mansyon. Pwede po ba naten ihanay ang mga bahay na ito sa mga bahay sa Forbes Park.”

In the report of journalist Chiara Zambrano for ANC, solar powered lamp posts were spotted on the way to the main house.

The reporter also noticed that the gazebo’s roof is made of anahaw and its posts are made of driftwood. Its floor seemingly look like tisa tiles. The gazebo was also able to accommodate all the media men in the tour.

The 240-sqm main house has a market value of P2.3 million, according to Purisima. It has five rooms and a loft. You can also see a wooden dining table, wine collection, and coffee shop mugs collection from around the world. Its kitchen has a hybrid refrigerator and stove made in Italy.
