Live Frog Sashimi: Would You Try This?

Today’s controversial dish is now served in Japan where frog dishes are served raw and the meal begins by eating the frog’s fresh, still-beating heart.

The video, which was originally posted in 2012, has recently been kicking up a storm in cyberspace once again because it’s a disturbing video which shows the frog being stabbed alive, having its skin cut off by the chef and the inedible organs removed, and then served as fresh sashimi on an ice platter, all in front of the ordering customer.

The video was shot at Tokyo’s Asadachi restaurant, a place that specializes in bizarre food and special sashimi that goes beyond fish (think horse, chicken — and in this case, bullfrog.) Located in the Shunjuku district of Tokyo which is lined with restaurants that serve similar bizarre dishes, the area draws in tourists and Japanese with a rather eclectic palate.

Please don’t watch this if you have a very weak stomach!

Although it is very sick, I want to ask those who complain that this is wrong, don’t you people also enjoy eating cooked bullfrog? What’s the difference?

  1. Umm… the cooked bullfrog didn’t suffer as much?

This is barbaric when you have countries of the new millennium going to (not so effortly) lengths to stun animals before butchering so we can minimize the suffering like decent living feeling things with respect to our fellow living feeling things.

  2. It’s not a good food.. I hate this!! They can also feel pain. Please do respect living creatures. Thank you!
